This group of 12 missioners will head for Miami on Saturday, June 12, 2004, with a planned 4:30 PM departure. The American Airlines flight is to arrive in Lima, Peru, at about 9:05 PM, making the 2,618 mile trip in less than 5 hours. We will carry our friendship, love, message, 24 supply bags, and our medical care to Peru.
After a quick night in a hotel in Lima, we’ll take the one-hour hop across the Andes to our destination, Pucallpa. At an elevation of less than 500 feet and as part of the Amazon basin, industry in this area involves logging and agriculture. As is the case in much of South America, the people include a few rich folks, many poor folks, and many very very very poor. We will try to help them.
The compound that James and Golda Watts put together in Pucallpa is just minutes from the airport, and we’ll move in that Sunday. We plan on organizing and preparing our supplies that day, to begin work Monday morning.
All plans are, of course, tentative, since one never really knows just what will happen or just what time it will happen. If all goes anything close to our plans, we’ll work through the week, travel back to Lima on Saturday, June 19, and return to the USA on Sunday.
These are our plans; we’ll see what God and Peru actually have in store for us when we get there….
