The beginning stages of this particular mission trip were hatched several months ago.
An initial meeting, held at Coronado Community United Methodist Church, occurred in February, and several people attended and expressed interest in going to Nicaragua. Additional folks submitted letters of interest or team member applications that month, and the final selection process evolved.
Although this team is a bit larger than most medical mission teams, we’ve been told that there may be some “light construction or painting” work that will be available for some of us while we’re there. We’ll all have something to do. As usual, we’ll all do whatever God puts in our paths in Central America.
The team has met four more times in the last five months, and the final meeting is scheduled for Sunday, July 3. That will be the annual “Packing Meeting,” where all of the 14 “team bags” are filled with the donated medicines, supplies, T-shirts, hats, soaps, shampoos, glasses, skin lotions, sunglasses, etc. We’ll each carry and check in one personal bag and one team bag.
We’ll be leaving the church before noon on June 9, and plan on catching an American Airlines flight from Miami at 7 PM.
Keep us in your prayers.
