We can't believe our last full day is here. Time sure flies when you're having fun and working hard. We are very pleased with what has been
accomplished under Felix's keen eye. Classroom A received it's second coat of paint. The cement for the porch is being mixed and poured right
now. The cement mixing pit is where the action is and we are working hard to Guatemala tunes from the boombox. Whole lotta shaking going on!
God surely loves a cheerful worker and a team effort.
Mara, Wayne and Brenda helped Inge shop for fresh produce in the market this morning. Mara and Inge whipped up a delicious lunch of
quesadillas, beans and fabulous guacamole. A hard working crew really appreciates the effort in the kitchen! Yesterday after work we visited the
site of the textile cooperative, Ruth and Naomi. We heard the history of the cooperative and how it came into being to assist the widows and
orphans of the civil war. We were able to tour the facility and see the men working the sewing machines. There is a room with huge looms. Many
of the women do their weavings at home where they have many other responsibilities. They have a store on the site and it was a wonderful
opportunity to buy and support this worthwhile cause. Their items appear in religious/humanitarian catalogs and fair trade stores in many locations.
We will no doubt return to the hotel very tired this evening. Our social/devotional team time is typically before dinner since many of us are falling
asleep by 7:30PM and we love having fireplaces in our rooms. Tomorrow we will have only a few hours at the site before we head for Antigua.
We must leave by 11:30 in order to proceed through road construction without long traffic delays. It will be hectic tomorrow so do not plan on
receiving an update. We will be mostly involved in cleaning up the site and bidding our friends here good-bye. Hopefully I can send some photos.
We are very blessed to be here and to have had such a good experience. It is true that in serving, we are served. We have learned much andshared
much. We wish we could stay longer. We are "booked" to continue our work here next July. Thank you so much for your support and prayers.
They mean so much to us as we travel on the wings of grace.
