Today we arrived at the clinic/construction site and went right to work. Where the concrete was laid yesterday in Classroom B, the
team is busy painting. In Classroom A where the floor was leveled yesterday, the concrete is being poured and we should be able
to paint the ceiling and walls tomorrow. Tile is being laid in the kitchen and things are moving along nicely. Everyone is moving to
different jobs as needed and we feel we are accomplishing a lot! We have been asked to stay an extra week!! We are measuring
the rooms and all dimensions so Mel can come home and create a drawing to scale in order to help with curriculum development.
Phil provided many answers to questions sent by Joan Harvey so that planning can go forward.
Phil has a cute schnauzer puppy named "Scooter" and this pup is quite the scene stealer. Phil explained that the children here
have no concept of having a pet. The parents really don't have time for "leisure activities" because of their many responsibilities
so the children really learn a lot from visiting teams about having fun. They are thrilled with simple things like small dolls, bubbles,
balls and trucks. Soccer is very popular. Inge fixed us a fabulous spaghetti lunch with fresh ingredients. Mara took a break from
construction to help chop veggies. We are flexible, as I said, moving from task to task.
The concrete mixing is very hard work so the team returns to the hotel very tired. Still, quite a few are up at the crack of dawn
(and the singing of birds in the courtyard), to walk the streets of Chichi. This team experience is going great and we are so very
thankful for your prayers and support! We love you and look forward to sharing our experiences when we return.
