We have had a very wonderful Sunday experience. After checking out of our hotel, we went directly to the Salud y Paz clinic/construction site where we unpacked supplies and gifts, toured the site and did some clean-up. We also decorated the medical and dental clinics with the white bears that were made by Sarah R. It was suggested that the children might be a little scared during medical/dental visits and might be cheered by the little bears and choose one to take home. Great idea and thank you Sarah! We stayed busy for several hours with site work, then held our own Sunday Service on the front porch of the clinic. Charles played the guitar as we sang "Go now in peace......" We were quickly joined by several children who sat with us. We also attempted the Spanish version but quickly lost the melody. Iona would not have been proud of us. Then we encouraged the children to sing Jesus Loves Me as we hummed the melody (this time Iona would have been proud!) It was very sweet and very moving for us all. Then we did a participatory sermon (each of us read a paragraph) from an essay on the subject of "Service" which is very much about our reason for being here. Several of us shared expressions of faith and we closed with prayer, remembering all our good friends back home. When we left the clinic site, we went to Chichi and checked into the Hotel Santo Tomas. We had several hours before dinner and we were able to explore the market which takes place on many of the streets in the town. It's a very "interactive" cultural experience and we will have stories to share. Please know we are all well. We have had no problems whatsoever and we are having a very good team experience. We feel very blessed to be here serving in Guatemala.
